Series and Parallel are two different ways to set up a circuit, with series having components that share a common node and a common electrical current, and parallel has components sharing two common nodes. Parallel would be the best bet for having multiple lights because if one of the connections is disrupted, it means that just that light won't shine, while in series none of them would light.
